37Signals’ Basecamp down again
1 hour ago they seem to have put up a temporary page saying the problem is their load balancer. There are 3 update messages already, which is to me a very professional way to communicate to customers.
Each message ends with the words of sorrow and deep excuses. They beg excuse so sincerely I feel uncomfortable. “C’mon kid, stop cryin’, daddy won’t hurt you”
They had another couple hours of outage several months ago and the reason was pretty weird and out of their control: a road truck physically hit the electric station and the emergency serviceshad to cut down power supply to save the driver’s life. This in turn triggered some chain reaction on their systems so they needed to stop the backup power supply and repair the thing.
Anyway I find them so professional and nice guys overall they don’t really need to beg so much excuse. Let’s see how long this outage will turn out to be.
