Google Reader: All items appear read
I had an annoying problem with Google Reader: each time I viewed it, all articles appeared read. I would expect the updated feeds to appear in bold font with the number of unread items displayed beside. I could still read the items that were not marked as read but the lack of indication of updated items made me sick. To give you the whole picture, I must say this problem only existed on my home PC, not at my workplace.
And — halellujah! — a friend of mine gave me a hint on the solution. It turned out that Ad Block Plus Firefox extension was playing these wicked games on me. To rectify this problem, just do the following:
- Visit Google Reader page
- In the toolbar on the upper right, spot ABP icon and click a drop down arrow next to it
- Select “Disable on this page only”
Bingo, you’re done!
