How to make sure you do something you promise
Here’s a simple method that works for me. Let’s say you talk in Skype to some guy, Bobby “Botanist” Garcia. And let’s assume this guy asks you to send him 5 kilos of rotten tomatoes for his scientific research.
You’re about to say “OK Bobby that’s not a problem” — but wait! DO NOT respond anything before you go to your favourite to-do management tool (like RTM) and create a to-do item: “Send rotten tomatoes to Botanist”.
After you filed a To-Do, you are free to say “OK”.
On the other hand, sometimes you say “OK, I’ll do that” and then something/someone interrupts you and — damn! — you forgot to ship tomatoes to poor Bobby.
