How to make Picasa work with proxy
UPDATE: arrrgh, this solution didn’t work for me. Feel free to try though.
Problem: when I try to connect to Web Albums in Picasa desktop I see the “failed to connect” error message. Apparently Picasa is trying to connect to internet directly while my environment has a proxy with authentication (squid).
Solution that worked for me:
- Open Picasa
- Make sure IE has correct proxy settings
- Open IE (not sure if this is needed)
- Click “Blog this” in Picasa
- Blogger login window appears
- Enter any stuff into Login/Password fields (actually I entered a registered Blogger user name but with a wrong password)
- You will get an error and invitation to log in into Google account instead
- Log in to your Google account
- Close “Blog this” window in Picasa
- Click “Web Albums” in Picasa
- You should see a Google login page in Picasa style
- Log in to your Google account
- Upload your cool photos to share them with others
